              SEPIA

I pronounce it Sep e ah as in Sept.   Kim Myles of Myles of Styles (HGTV's newest star) recently used it in a room she decorated and pronounced it...
SEEP E AH.  Perhaps we are both correct in our different pronunciation but we do agree that it gives a warm, brown look to whatever or wherever it is used.

Many of you might think that Shabby Chic is 'THE' vintage look.
It's great and I love it but I have admired Sepia long before Shabby Chic became the decorators choice.  It was the format that photographers used in the late 1800's and just recently Smithsonian magazine carried a feature article about John Muir the famous naturalist from that era.  Every photo accompanying the article was in Sepia.

Victoria magazine ( aren't we all thrilled it is with us again) featured antique calendar tiles, all done in, to my surprise and delight...Sepia.

High end catalogs have been sliding items in Sepia into their merchandise now for nearly a year...with that many affirmations of my love for MY VINTAGE look this web site will be featuring something in those 'warm, brown' tones with the confidence that the more you readers see the more it will grow upon you.

So choose whatever way you prefer when you say Sepia but please do take a few moments to study catalogs and magazines for ideas to use it in your special place.

Check out our Artist Studio, Library and Treasure Chest for the Sepia look.
